About

I listen to seiyuu radio every now and again and scribble my thoughts here. I also draw a little from time to time.

I keep a mini-blog on soup.io over at soup.ambiseiy.com where I usually post random small tidbits about seiyuu that aren’t quite big enough to make a post about on my main blog. Other than that I also use it to post seiyuu images that I like.

I’ve also got a twitter account at @AmbiFN and a Pixiv account at pixiv.net/member.php?id=255867 where I keep most of my art.

Take a look over at the “Seiyuu and Radio Shows I’m Currently Following” page on the side where I’ll mention the radio shows I’m planning to follow as well as the seiyuu I’m currently interested in and will most likely blog about.

Hi, just wanted to say that I really enjoyed browsing through your blog. I’m a huge seiyuu and radio show fan. I’ve been collecting and listening to various radio shows for a long time now. Some of the ones I listen to in common with you are Mikako@PayoPayo, BlazBlue, and Sugita Tomokazu no Anigera Dedoooon. Over the years, I’ve pretty much developed some kind of needy fix to hear Sugita say something amusing/stupid in the shows he’s in, lol. I can’t help it, he just makes me laugh, and his penchant for fanboying over various things always never fails to amuse. His relationship with Nakamura is amusing as well.

Anyway, there’s not many I know who follow Sugita or Nakamura (as well as Kamiya and on their radio shows, so I’m glad there seems to be at least one person out there who does. :) Please keep on your commentaries about various radio shows in the future. I’m glad there is someone at there who’s like-minded. :)

PS. I’m not as big as fan to some of the female seiyuu, but I do love Ueda Kana, Mizuki Nana, and Takahashi Mikako. ^_^

    • Ambi says:

Aww thanks =) I’m glad you enjoy reading my scribbles.
And I so know what you mean about Sugita. I search far and wide to see his activities on stage or radio <3 It's... Probably more like stalking at this point... ;)

Hello! I have been reading your blog about seiyuu’s radio shows =)

I have a request. Can I have the link which could allow me to listen to these radio shows?

    Thank you :)

  • Wilson says:

Sorry i have one more question. Hmmm, what do i need in order to play the audio? The video went blank and seems to be not playing.

  • Aurey says:

I like your new simple Aki layout. =D

If it’s not too much trouble.. since you do like Hikasa Youko too. Though I bet it’s pointless cause you are more than capable in Japanese. I started a project translating Hikasa Youko’s blog. http://hikasayoukoblog.wordpress.com

I’m just a novice at Japanese and have only been learning by myself and also with the help of numerous Japanese friends so I’m probably making a lot of mistakes.. Feel free to point them out.. haha

  • Aurey says:

Thought I’d post on here since I can’t get a response from you on twitter. Sorry.

I kinda need a little help with Hikasa’s blog’s latest post since you obviously know more than I. She mentions a person nicknamed Pon. Any idea who that is? Could it be Asapon like Shimoda Asami? The all girls meat meal party has Hikasa, Inoue Marina and Pon. If it’s Asapon, then all 3 from Infinite Stratos? Then again there’s Ayahi whom I assume is Takagaki Ayahi? That kinda makes it not all IS girls.. >_<

    • Ambi says:

Ah it looks like when you’re set on “private” on Twitter people can’t read your @tweets :O

In regards to “Pon”, you’re right that it refers to Shimoda Asami, (Incidentally I wrote something about it on http://ambiseiy.com/2011/02/22/radio-is-1/ I found it hilarious how her name has pretty much disappeared from the nickname at that point haha) And yeah Ayahi refers to Takagaki Ayahi. Interestingly you can look up the event on Marina’s and Shimoda’s blogs on http://yaplog.jp/marinavi/archive/1271 and http://yaplog.jp/asaponmax/archive/3260 respectively as well.

And no worries on using this to message me I don’t mind :) Let me know if I can help in any way~

      • Aurey says:

Lol.. I missed that no idea how. I’ve actually watched an episode of IS radio where Yukana guested. I found it extremely cute and hilarious when they were comparing v^_^v poses.. I thought Asapon’s was the cutest somehow.

and wow, I did not know setting it to private prevents @mentions from being seen as well. Setting it to public now.

Thanks for the confirmation. Really appreciate it. ^_^v

    Hello~

I randomly stumbled onto this website (wasn’t even looking for anything seiyuu related haha).
First thing catching my eye is that gorgeous drawing on the left and as a digital artist (Anime/manga style drawings only) I was interested in it!
Did you draw it? If yes, very nice, love it! And second, I’d like to request permission to use it as a lineart (ofcourse mentioning your name) and coloring it, or using it as a reference for a future drawing I may or may not draw.

Also, funny thing I do have a slight interest in Seiyuu (even has one of my favorites in it) so I think I’ll check your website and see what it’s about haha

I hope to receive a reply soon!
Have a very nice day :]

    • Ambi says:

Heh feel free to do anything you want with it, though technically I did draw it, it’s basically a conversion of a photo in the first place ^^; You can find the original photo on this post: Seiyuu 3D->2D Sketches
Thanks for the compliment though :D

      • Fai says:

Thank you! And yeah I saw it later that it was from a picture of Toyosaki Aki. I also checked out your drawings on Pixiv :o You’re such a good artist! Don’t take breaks, you’ll get rusty xD (happened to me >_>)

Anyways, I’ll post a link here somewhere when I’m done ^-^

  • Andrew says:

I really enjoy following your website. Just one pointer though…can you possibly move the title and table of contents so that it doesn’t interfere with the articles’ text? Maybe to the left edge of the screen. Thanks.

    • Ambi says:

Err I’m not sure what you mean? This is what it should appear like: http://yfrog.com/ocyg2bj

What kind of screen resolution and browser are you using?

….Actually after a bit of investigation I see what you mean. It looks like Internet Explorer doesn’t seem to like this theme and is the only one that has this problem =/ I’ll see what I can do.

    • Ambi says:

Okay I think I’ve found the problem and it should be displaying correctly now. Let me know if it’s still looking weird.
Thanks for pointing that out. I wonder how long it’s been like that for? D:

  • hashi says:

I love…I mean really love…your blog. Thanks for doing this. I listen to some radio shows myself, but my Japanese isn’t good enough to understand every word, so the fact that you seem to enjoy some of the same seiyuus as I do makes me happy.

I hope you don’t mind me ripping off your logo to illustrate my post telling people they should check out your blog.

  • Aurey says:

Speaking of your blog layout, that logo screencap that Hashi took is what most people with 720p desktop resolution see. Sorta Aki’s face being blocked off by that little table there. T_T

    • Ambi says:

Yeah I used to have a really colorful layout but then I realised it made things hard to read for those with small screens since it had the content overlayed on the background image so I changed it to this plain one lol. Not to say I’m not happy with it but yeah sometimes I wish there was more color haha.

      • Aurey says:

Oh, it’s not the lack of colour that I’m commenting on haha. it’s just the lack of being able to see Aki’s adorable face.. XD I like things like this. Really simple and it works.

  • henwy says:

I just wanted to leave a message and say just how much I’ve enjoyed reading your blog. I discovered it about a week ago and I’ve been reading through the archives ever since. I had no clue the radio shows where like this and I’m just sad that I can’t experience them for myself due to lack of language comprehension. I’ve seldom wished I understood Japanese more than now.

Anyway, I hope you keep it up and I’ll listen vicariously through you.

  • NoName says:

    Hi there.

I’ve been following your ‘blog’ for quite a while now but I’m pretty much a lurker so this is my first comment. At first I only read entries related to seiyuu I care about but I didn’t have anything interesting to do lately so I ended up reading absolutely everything. No matter who you write about they always seem to get along well so it’s a fun read either way. Thanks for the translations~

Like I said, there are quite a few seiyuu that you cover which don’t really do much for me. With each new season I’m getting more out of touch with the industry nowadays and I’m not even sure if there’s a single seiyuu born in the 90s that I really care about. Which brings me to the question: is there any list of all the radio shows out there, both new and old? Well, of course there are tons of them so ‘all’ might be a bit of an exaggeration but as long as it covers a good chunk of them it’s okay with me. Obviously I don’t know Japanese (otherwise I’d look for one myself) but as long as the hosts are named somewhere I think I’ll manage (the wonders of modern technology).

Aside from that are there any shows out there hosted by, uh, ‘older ladies’? You know, seiyuu in their late 30s and 40s. I know Yukarin has her own show since you mentioned it somehwere. Also, are there any shows which are more ‘mellow’? All the girls you cover seem to go crazy and it’s not like there’s anything wrong with that but for a guy like me who has trouble understanding Japanese it’s really, really hard to follow. Something slow paced would be nice~

Last question: you said you watch/listen to stuff on nico nico. Is there any site out there with downloadable rips? Saving the videos from nico and ripping the audio from them takes a lot of time and it’s simply a pain in the rear.

Ah, I went overboard and wrote a wall of text. Oh well. Again, thanks for all the translations so far and I’ll be looking forward to more of them in the future! I know you’re busy lately but as long as you write something every now and then I’m sure nobody will complain. People who write about seiyuu usually quit after a few weeks and you’re already past the two year mark already and you’re still going strong. So yeah, hang in there~

    • Ambi says:

For the first question, you can find radio schedules in various Japanese sites, but here’s one that’s not too complete in english: http://www.seiyuu.info/radio.php which can lead you to the more complete Japanese list like http://www.geek-p.com/. It’s normally very difficult to listen to old episodes of radio outside of Nicovideo or purchasing the back number episodes from the official sites though so I can’t really help you much more there. There’s a huge assortment of radio shows at http://animate.tv/radio/ and onsen.ag though so if you don’t mind jumping into a radio show halfway through you can search through those areas.
If you’re looking for a list of radio shows that a particular seiyuu has done you’re best looking into their Japanese Wikipedia page under the ラジオ part. For your second question that would be the best place to start for looking up radio shows by the older generation of seiyuu. Putting Tamura Yukari, Mizuki Nana, Horie Yui, e.g. the more active ones aside, depending on the seiyuu, you might not be able to find that they have at least one show that’s currently being aired.

I don’t really know of a place where you can download radio pretty reliably, but for ripping audio off Nicovideo you can just go to http://nicosound.anyap.info/, put the URL of the video into the search bar and click the “MP3 を抽出” button on the page to download the audio off the video without much hassle.

      I hope that answers everything.
And thanks for the long comment :D

  • John Hong says:

Hey I’ve been listening to Utawarerumono Radio by myself for awhile. Then I started looking for more Yuzu-nee but only found HanaKana. Confused on whether to feel happy or sad. But yeah I’ve been lurking around nico for awhile and heard some good shit but never really watched some of the radio shows you watch. Glad to see the translations and some good clips :). But I used to watch radio shows like, if I liked the show i’ll watch the radio show. But maybe its more like if I like the people I’ll listen to the radio show no matter whether the show sucked? lol who knows. But yeah keep on the posting! And I’ve been following Eternal Blaze Generation and O— blogs/tumblr. Thanks to you three I have learned many things in this past week. Horie Yui is a legendary pokemon, Kana is miracle of the universe, and Yuzu-nee is unpopular.

    • Ambi says:

Coincidentally Utawarerumono Radio was the first radio I listened to and came to love so many years back when it started airing :O

    • Ambi says:

I love Yuzuki Ryouka’s radio work as well though, I recommend looking up Candy Boy’s radio with her and Katou Emiri for another fun listen :D

      • John Hong says:

I listened to the first episode of the candy boy radio. It kinda seemed awkward? Between the two. Wasn’t as enjoyable as I thought it’d be. Does it get better?

        • Ambi says:

It’s their first time talking properly so it was a bit awkward at the start and it gets more fluid, but either way it should’ve been nothing compared to Koyama Rikiya’s awkwardness ahaha.

          • John Hong says:

Ehhh! Koyama Rikiya was cute when flustered. Was funny when they were making fun of him. :D Still is. If you watch the Kamen no maid guy radio they have yuzuki as a guest! Koyama Rikiya still had is awkward laughs and whatnot. But i’ll give candy boy a try. On the third one and it isn’t too bad. Heard CB radio has some risque talk?? Maybe?

  • Mikan says:

I really love your work for translating many seiyuu radio especially that include Hayami Saori, actually I am her big fan XDD. I want to request some translation for this radio http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm14909418 I just want to know about the conversation, I am fan of 3 of them (JunJun, Mamo-chan and Hayamin) so that I like Star Driver XDD

I’m sorry for the request and my bad English, I look forward for it, thank you >.<

  • SEM says:

Hey! I simply want to give a huge thumbs up for the great info you’ve got right here on this post.
I will likely be coming again to your blog for
    extra soon.

  • Marcus Tran says:

    Hello!

I read that you’re not really updating this blog actively anymore, you might not even listen to radio shows or see this message… even then I would like to ask you something. I’m just passing by and found this blog about japanese radio shows which I’ve been greatly interested lately. I just have a question for you. At the moment I have had troubles finding where I could listen to Hanazawa Kana’s radio show “Hanazawa Kana no Hitori de Dekiru Kana?”. It would be appreciated if you could direct me to someplace or if you could link the site you used to listen to it.

    Thank you beforehand!

  • Marcus Tran says:

Late? Not at all! I wrote to you not even expecting an answer. I mean, I did write to a blog that’s not active anymore… so thank you very much for answering!

    Well, thank you once again!
